HOLIDAY CHECKLIST, coming soon

What kinds of things are on your holiday checklist? And when do you get started? I’m going to start next week. Want to join me? I have an ultimate holiday checklist I use every year and will share as soon as I’ve updated it (hopefully this week, I can get a little exhaustive in my list making).
UPDATE: see comments for Pumpkin Petunia’s early bird card sale.

I am determined this year to have my customers’ holiday cards done early this year. To that end, I decided to have a 50% off promotion for early birds who place their order by September 23rd. It’s the best thing I have ever done. My customers are thrilled to have the incentive to get this holiday task behind them and I have such a great head start in delivering my card orders that I’m hoping to have more time with my family come November.
I have received so many notes from excited customers so happy to have this major holiday “stress” off their list! A definite win-win!

I start making my lists as soon as I have ideas (could be March) and then do little things over the summer – grab and put away gifts, pick up handmaking supplies, etc. By the end of October, when watching tv or movies, my hands are knitting or sewing. I have my cookie baking system down to a fine art now… I buy groceries, measure out ingredients, do chopping prep, etc and make icebox doughs a day or two before. The next night while those are baking, I’m mixing doughs for the rest. I can decorate or glaze (or whatever) the first wave while the second one bakes and after two evenings, I have several hundred cookies as gifts for co-workers and thank-yous. Organization and pretty packaging saves me massive stress.

Last year I really did get everything done early, and it made a HUGE difference on how the holidays went. Here’s to hoping I can do the same this year!!

I’m working on a Thanksgiving dinner list. My husband’s family is coming to visit so I’ve been planning that. One holiday at a time. : )

Amberlee, thanks so much for the mention in your edited post. To be honest, I hesitated to even post my comment because I didn’t want it to be misconstrued as a shameless plug. The truth is, that really is the biggest item on my holiday checklist and I love how it’s working out for my customers as well as myself.
Anyway, thank you so much. As always, you are too kind.

Every year I vow to start early, but I have yet to do it. I would love to read your list. And yes, I’ll join you.

I can’t wait for the list. Very excited. I have a few things on my list so far, but nothing concrete, especially for my very picky older brother? jeepers, what in the world could I make him?!

i’m not surprised at all that you’ve gotten holiday things done early before, since you pretty much rock.
